Costly. Yes. But this is just what I was looking for; this base is very stable. AmScope is the way to go. I took the major support tube off and mounted it to my work bench. That way I can worry less about stability issues but really is was for clutter issues. :).



The boom stand is as portrayed/depicted and is a good make. Beware, although, that when the microscope is completely expanded, it barely keeps from overturning. I’m considering to fix the platform to a table with some screws.
